The sustainable elevator group

The fact that Motum is the sustainable elevator group is both a reality and a goal. Even though our color is green and we always strive to find solutions that are good for both people and the environment, we still have a lot of work to do. Climate change is the great challenge of our time, and we all need to do better in this regard. That is why, for example, we almost always advocate modernization over new installation whenever possible—it means at least 50 percent less environmental impact!

Sustainability. Motum supports the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by UN member states in 2015. Our ambition is to become a leader in sustainability and drive the advancement of sustainability within the industry.

Our history and the sustainable elevator group today

The Motum Group was founded in 2014, but our history goes back much further than that.

Motum Stockholm (formerly ITK, Hissgruppen, and Uppsala Lyftservice) are the oldest subsidiaries in the group. They were established as early as the 1970s and 1980s. They were followed by Motum Närke (formerly Hisscentralen) and Motum Mitt (formerly Nordisk Hiss), which celebrated their 20th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, over the past year.

Since the Motum Group was founded, we have grown steadily, and today we are Sweden’s largest independent supplier of elevators and doors. However, our ambition remains the same as it has always been: to take Sweden to new heights by focusing on being a local service partner.

Motum Takes the Next Step in Southern Sweden

On July 1, 2026, Motum AB became the sole owner of Motum Syd through the acquisition of the remaining shares in the company. The acquisition is a natural next step in the long-term plan that has been in place since Motum Skåne—as it was then known—was founded in 2020, and it entails no changes for customers or employees.

Sweden's first Mitsubishi elevator is now in place

Motum has now completed the installation of the first Mitsubishi elevator in Sweden at HSB Skåne in Kristianstad. The project marks an important milestone for Motum and signals the launch of Mitsubishi elevators on the Swedish market.

Victoria Mägi – The Energy Hub and the Center of Motum Väst in Mölndal, Gothenburg

We had the opportunity to meet Victoria Mägi, an administrator at Motum Väst in Mölndal. Together with her colleague Amela Arnautovic—who is also a highly valued and indispensable member of the team—the two of them keep the administrative machinery running that so many at Motum rely on.

With a clear focus on its business in Sweden, Motum aims to strengthen its customer relationships and better position itself for continued growth, while continuing to develop with a focus on stability and long-term sustainability.

Motum's elevator technicians impressed at the Swedish National Skills Competition – Pontus Wester took home the bronze

This year’s edition of the Swedish Skills Championships at Kistamässan in Stockholm was a huge success for Motum and the elevator industry. Our elevator technicians Pontus Wester and Vincent Andersson from Örebro participated in Sweden’s largest vocational skills competition and both delivered impressive performances throughout the event.
