Motum has now completed the installation of the first Mitsubishi elevator in Sweden at HSB Skåne in Kristianstad. The project marks an important milestone for Motum and signals the launch of Mitsubishi elevators on the Swedish market.
Since Motum became part of Mitsubishi Electric, the opportunity to introduce Mitsubishi elevators in Sweden has been a natural part of the company’s development. Now, the first installation has been completed—a project that has generated significant interest both internally and within the industry.
“For many of us who work with elevators, Mitsubishi has long been a well-known name associated with high quality. The fact that Motum has now sold and completed the first Mitsubishi installation in Sweden is an important milestone. For us at Motum Syd, it’s especially exciting to be the first to carry out this installation,” says Tom Westerholm, CEO of Motum Syd.
For Motum, this initiative means that the group can combine Mitsubishi Electric’s technology with the local presence, service, and expertise available through Motum’s companies throughout the country. This broadens the offering and provides customers with another strong option for new installations. The fact that the first installation was carried out in collaboration with HSB Skåne also makes the project particularly significant. “
—HSB Skåne is a large and professional organization with high standards, and we’re proud that they chose to carry out the project with us. We’ve experienced a great deal of trust throughout the entire process, and that means a lot,” continues Tom Westerholm.
Mitsubishi elevators are characterized by high quality, high reliability, and a long service life. For property owners, this means not only fewer downtimes but also a lower total cost of ownership due to reduced need for repairs and maintenance over time. For the end user, the quality is also evident in a very high level of ride comfort, with smooth operation, low noise levels, and a comfortable ride. Andreas Persson was one of the elevator technicians who installed the elevators on-site in Kristianstad. For him, the project has confirmed what many in the industry already knew.
“After completing the installation, we’ve really seen the quality confirmed in practice. It’s a very solid product through and through, and the quality is evident in every detail—from the choice of materials to how the solutions are designed. You can tell that the focus is on long-term operation and minimal maintenance,” says Andreas Persson.
All in all, this means that Mitsubishi elevators combine high performance with long-term cost-effectiveness—a factor that is becoming increasingly important as more property owners evaluate investments based on total cost of ownership.
One pleasant surprise was that the installation went more smoothly than the team had initially expected. Clear manuals, good support, and a well-thought-out plan ensured that the installation proceeded efficiently.
“We’ve also gained experience and developed work methods that mean we’re even better prepared for upcoming Mitsubishi projects in Sweden. This gives us a strong foundation to build on, both here in Skåne and for other Motum companies around the country,” continues Andreas Persson.
The installation was carried out using a clear and well-structured approach, in which carefully considered material choices, high-quality installation work, and a high degree of standardization contributed to efficient execution. This helps reduce project risks and ensures that the planned quality is achieved in the finished facility.
For Motum, this is more than just a single installation. The project has provided valuable experience to build on as Mitsubishi elevators now become part of Motum’s offering in Sweden.
